MADS WIGHUS

BIO

Mads Wighus was born and raised in Trondheim and has slowly but surely become a part of Norwegian music life. He has for many years made a living as an opera singer on large and small Norwegian stages, and in recent years he has also done opera productions abroad.

He has two master's degrees, one in classical performing singing from Barratt Due/NMH and one in opera from KHIO.

In 2009 he received the Friends of the Opera Talent Award and he has received numerous scholarships from, among others, the Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation, Ruud Wallenberg and FFUK.

In his youth he played a number of instruments and eventually in several bands. In his 20s while studying music in Oslo he also dabbled in rhythmic songwriting in parallel with his singing studies. A record deal was on the table at one point, but then he had to choose not to pursue an internship at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet and a possible career as an opera singer.

The years that followed gave him the opportunity to make a living as an opera singer, singing opera roles, concerts, opera cafés and performances for children all over Norway. In private settings such as anniversaries, events, funerals and weddings, he also has considerable experience, and has built a reputation as an entertainer and charismatic singer.

In 2017, Mads got a job as a singing teacher at the cultural school in Nannestad and with the growing vacancy rate came more experience and devotion to his singing students and the teaching profession. At the cultural school, Mads was also a representative for CREO and got involved early in the music industry and its living conditions in Norway. In the meeting with singing students, rhythmic music became more present again and the urge to write songs resurfaced. In 2021, he was on "The Voice" on TV2.

In February 2025, his first EP "Worth While" was released and shortly after, the single "Rise" was released.

On March 28, 2025, there was a grand release concert in the Great Hall at Nannestad Kulturarena. In june the single "Eazy Money" was released and has since received good reviews and numbers from streaming and radio services.

He also paints pictures and has had several exhibitions.
